Read a response written by MAREX in the Angela Kwach Thread...

"The new constitution outlaws any form of discrimination. I underwent similar treatment in Daystar. I applied for a masters degree in communication a year ago. I was told that the application form wont be processed if I don't write a half a foolscap testimony. 3 weeks later, I was informed that my application cannot be processed because I was not qualified on religious grounds"

Don't you guys think the application procedures used by these two universities are not in line with the new constitution? My application to Nazarene University was rejected twice on religious grounds before I was finally accepted. The environment in these two universities also infringe on the students constitutional rights and I don't believe that there is any institutional law or procedure that is mightier than the constitution of the republic of Kenya

You need to understand that these are the principals these Universities are set on and their biggest financiers/donors require this of them. There are many others for you to choose from and don't forget that they are private universities.

There's discrimination everywhere but they go by different names. Let me as you, this; If a certain private university says that it will only admit students who had a pass mark of C+ and above, would that be discriminating against the ones who got C and below? Aren't they entitled to university education too?

BBI will solve it

Nazarene was discriminating against me just because I am a muslim. I am talking about religious discrimination. If I am Academically fit to join that university, why should my religion be an impediment?

I beg to differ. Nazarene does not discriminate on grounds of religion. I have a friend there who went through the whole process and he is muslim. Before him, there were two others... infact, one lady got a first class... so, i dont think it was on your religious grounds... may be something else.

Let us not take this 'rights' thing too far. These are PRIVATE institutions. They trade with whoever they chose to.

HIV Test is discriminatory. She should have asked Daystar to put that request in writing.... bet you they wouldnt dare do it!!!

But as far as the testimony writing is concerned, its a personal choice to do it or look for an alternative institution to study in. Nowadays guys are spoilt for choice as far as universities are concerned.

Stop with this lie already! Being private does not give any institution a right to discriminate.I guess that most people believe this just because they have heard or read the lines so many times that they mindlessly parrot it.
