Is it wise to have the station in Syokimau while we know that some of the densily populated areas in Nairobi are Dandora, and Eastlands areas.

The area is growing really fast, and the Dandora and Eastlands are already covered by the railway... the train stops at Dandora, mutindwa and Hamza before town....though there is no station as such

I think their main objective of this investment is to serve the airport and not necessarily syokimau... syokimau just happened to benefit in the process.

They were said the station is 12.5 km from the CBD. I also couldn't figure out where that is.

In well planned cities it is the services/ infrastructure like roads/rails/water/power etc that are first build before the people settle. so it is wise to build it in Syoki thou I know in kenya 'we take services closer to the pple' instead.

@Swanky, Syokimau starts at around Kappa on Msa Rd and that is exactly 12.5km from haille sel/Uhuru Highway junction.pimaad jana.wher exactly it will be built, is a question am also asking.

The station is being built in Syokimau, right where the old Embakasi Railway Station is. The station is actually in Nairobi (county, province), though on the broder with Mavoko. It is 12.5 kms from the CBD, and quite close to Mombasa Rd.

If you are interested in the actual location, here goes

LR No. 7135/16 at an altitude of 1632 m a.s.l., and is located between latitudes 1°21'31" and 1°21'40" South and longitudes 36°54'26" and 36°54'16" East.

Construction will start earliest in February since the EIA report needs at least 30 days for approval by NEMA and since it was handed in on 27th December 2010, go figure.

Eastlands has a railway line. In the Masterplan, all railway lines will be upgraded thus Eastlands City will also be served.

Its just that the pilot project is the Nairobi-Embakasi line which has apparently the most passengers daily ( because it partly serves Industrial Area). According to Nduva Muli.

And also because it facilitates a link to the airport, which is a key part of the project. There will be shuttle buses from Syokimau to the airport, then when Phase II (new line to and station at JKIA) is finished, will offer a seamless connection to the airport.
