The numerous discussions about SAB Miller's re-entry into the alcoholic beverage market are fascinating.
I am curious,

Would you (as SAB Miller);

1. buy an existing franchise? and If so which one?

2. Set up shop and grow organically? (knowing the perils that lay before you)

3. option C, enter through a different product segment ...

Discuss.

SAB Miller can't re-enter as fast as whatever is affecting EABL will batter them though in TZ & SS they are giving EABL a run for their money. Even before the current alcoholic bill was in place, EABL had already reached a point of saturation & knew that the best way of increasing income was by diversifying into new markets though this was not working so well as they caved into legal pressure in TZ and in UG people love their indigenous beer & waragi in SS SAB Miller have already established a plant.

I think SAB Miller would consider entering through Option C. Buy a non-alcoholic beverage company (e.g water busniness)., quietly develop the supply chain and leverage on an existing distribution network.

i doubt SAB is interested in kenya. what is the max market share they would gain from a confrontational war? i guess >20%. they currently hold 20% of kenya market thro KBL. y would they want to fight to retain the same. the battle will be fought in new frontiers read SOSS and both are already spoiling for battle!
