Great idea! Count me in.

Meanwhile let me try to answer Obi Wan's question,if only to make sure it does not become an imaginary barrier to an otherwise great initiative.

'WHY DO OUR POLITICIANS ABANDON US IMMEDIATELY THEY GET POWER'

The answer is ‘we the people’:

1. Communicating a vision and bringing it to pass (through the instrument of government,say) are two different things. The first requires only clear thinking and articulation while the other demands negotiation,persuasion,compromise,management,patience etc (unless you are a dictator and therefore have powers of fiat). Unfortunately we tend to think of the two as the same. Orengo,Musyimi,Namwamba et al are good communicators. Look at the trouble Obama is facing and you can see what I mean.

2. Expectations: we expect too much of our leaders/government. So much that they are doomed to dash our hopes time and again. It is time we learned that Government does not do things for people. Government helps create the environment in which people do things for themselves and for others. Also it is rare that a people will produce leaders greater than they themselves are willing to be. If we are corrupt we shall elevate the corrupt to lead us because that is who we know best and idolize. A lemon tree does not bear apples.

3. We tend to elect leaders on the basis of what they say they can do,rather than what they have done in the past. No business would survive if it hired like that. This is how we end up with a parliament of clowns and entertainers but managerial incompetents. This needs to change if Kenya is to get the leaders the country deserves.

Finally as a people we have low expectations of ourselves and therefore of our leaders. This kind of initiative will have exceeded its purpose if it was to raise Kenyans belief in themselves. Let us start from here: we have survived,despite our leaders best efforts to destroy this country. Surely we can do without this lot.

Marvelous!

This is all we have been yearning!

Am in. mikono na miguu.

But please as we take off,we must lay the rule down.

ALL POLITICIANS,PAST & PRESENT are not allowed to participate in this fora. we have had enough of their crap.

the mobilization must pick speed coz time is not on our side,but having simply started,no turning back.

Cheers everybody n lets roll up our collective sleeves and get on with it.

We must take charge of our investments and safeguard them from pesky maize thieves.

Count me in. I like the fact that mkristo has begun by giving a solution. Kudos. My Idea is similar to yours.

I propose phases:
Phase 1: This should be done by the e-mail idea. It involves mobilising resources in terms of ideology. I propose this because the percentage of Kenyans that have access to the net is limited and also those that are,are fewer and ready to agree to disagree. This is an advantage because the a roll-out plan can be hatched with a certain degree of swiftness.

Phase 2: After a roll-out plan has been agreed upon,we start with education of few but very influential people in the grass-roots,and I dont mean elders,MPs,councillors (catch my drift),I mean women(mothers and wives),teachers and children( bearing in mind this is simply not a 5yr plan but a real vision 2030).

Phase 3: Identification of potential candidates and strategic planning for the election.

Any more ideas please add...I always tell people when a government stops working for the people....a revolution is just around the corner. I am a peaceful being,education and hope are the keys to success....

Hi guys,nice forum,
i am sure we are all fed up with this obscene pack of MP's,never before in our history have we ever seen such selfish greedy shenanigans,at the moment most people would see them more useful in a grave,or as the forum topic is indicating,out of power and fresh leaders,but as much as that is a good idea i think another bigger problem we have is the whole system,from judiciary,to legislative to executive to everything,the system is made in a way it accommodates politicians,protecting them even when they are involved in genocide,corruption,fraud and all other sins,all in the expense of the common man.
So my point is yes u will elect new leaders,but they will be accommodated by a system that makes them immune to sin,and since we are human,one will crack,so i guess we should also ask our selves how and who will change the system.

P.S Ringera said its impossible.

When written in Chinese,the word crisis is composed of two
characters. One represents danger and the other represents
opportunity.
In every game and con there is always a victim and there is always an opponent. It’s good to know when you are the former so you can become the latter.

@ Mkristo

Some of us cannot attend the physical meetings

So let us have the minutes online,plus allow us to make contributions before you conclude on matters discussed.

Godspeed

I have read most comments on this issue,

We all seem to agree on one thing,with one voice we should let them know; THAT

We,SK Members,declare for all our country and the world to know:

that Kenya belongs to all who live in it,poor and rich,and that no government can justly claim authority unless it is delivering service to wananchi;

that our people have been robbed of their rights to land,liberty and peace by forms of government founded on injustice and inequality;

that our country will never be prosperous or free until all thieves (the big fish) are appreheded,charged and jailed and everyone enjoying equal rights and opportunities;

that only a democratic state,based on the will of all the people,can secure to all their birthright without distinction of tribe,race,sex or belief;

And we pledge ourselves to strive together,sparing neither strength nor courage,until the democratic changes here set out have been won.

The People Shall Govern!

Every man and woman shall have the right to vote for and to stand as a candidate for all bodies which make laws;

All people shall be entitled to take part in the administration of the country;

The rights of the people shall be the same,regardless of tribe or sex;

The stratergy comes at the right time.

If a man hasn't discovered anything he can die for,then he is not worth living!
