The point to note here is that not all the basic nutrients needed for your eye health are available in your diet. You need to make extra effort to get the nutrients from dietry supplement. You cannot get bilberry for example from your normal diet neither can you source for the herb locally.

Eye Exercise ? This is strange. Just like any part of your body you need to exercise your eyes periodically. Opticians prescribes at least thrice a week.

A typical eye exercise is very easy, it requires just 5 minutes of your time like thrice a week.

Here it goes :-

Look at a far direction for at least a minute, return to your focus to the normal view. Due that repetedly.

This exercise enables you to relax your eye muscle and also reduces the stress on your retina.

Our normal eye use entails reading tiny objects, using the computer, mobile phones etc rather strains the eye muscles so you need to have a routine of doing the contrary, that is relaxing the eye muscles.

Please be aware that this is only one out of several exercise techniques for your eyes

Ladies and gentlemen,

Permit me to re-emphasize the medical benefits of egg yolks to the eyes.

This will run contrary to the general consensus of dieticians because it is universally accepted that consumption of egg yolks leads to weight gain. . I fully subcribe to this scientifically proven fact.

On the flip side, egg yolks have the higest concentration of Zeaxanthin, a very important ingredient of eye health which even contitutes part of the retina. This means for your eye health you need a daily dietry intake of egg yolk. Opticians suggest an egg a day for your eye health.

To strike a balance, I suggest you take an egg a day only in the morning. By so doing the weight adding tendency will not be of much consequence as your daily metabolic activities will burn the calories derivable from the egg yolks while your eye health will be boosted.

It is well known that weight gain is often traceable to evening food, since there no much metabolic activities after dinner.

To wrap up the eye health series, let me present to you excerps from Indian born and US trained professor of Optimology Prof Rind Ghandi.
His presentation carries a lot of insights on varieties of eye exercises.
For clarity I will place it on the next post,
read it or print it to read at your convinience.

Be eye health concious.

EXCERPS

Many people's eyes begin deteriorating in later life. It seems that very little is done to help prevent this. Excuse my cynicism, but the opticians do absolutely nothing to help this. They merely keep testing peoples visions until they have deteriorated to a point where they deem they need glasses or contact lenses. Then your eyes start becoming lazy and more dependant on the vision aids. They deteriorate further and the opticians can sell you a stronger pair of grossly overpriced glasses or contacts. Great business eh?
What they do not tell you or help you with is the prevention of eye sight deterioration and even the improvement of it in natural ways. Why would they -that would do them out of sales!
Fear not, I will show you how to get the best of your eyes, and beat the optician.

The three common faults of vision are not using the peripheral vision, staring without focussing, and not moving the eyes enough. All this occurs whilst watching TV or being on the computer. TV viewing should be restricted to an hour a day, especially for children. You should be at least 3 meters away from the screen, preferably further. It is helpful to sit with good posture as this will help the blood flow around your body and to your eyes.
If you work on computers all day then it is going to be more difficult for you to limit your viewing. Instead you can look away from the computer about every half an hour.
Look at something about 6 meters away for about 10 seconds. Really focus on it. Let the eyes do some work. This will help strengthen the muscles.
Then look at something about 3 meters away for about 10 seconds, and again really focus on it.
Repeat this with a few different objects at different distances every half an hour. If you manage to keep this up, you will massively reduce the deterioration of your eyes through watching the computer screen. You can also do these exercises if you insist on watching loads of TV.

Whilst we are on the subject of work, did you that wearing a suit can cause eyesight deterioration? Tight fitting collars on a shirt can restrict the blood flow to the eyes, causing them to deteriorate through lack of nutrients.
On the subject of nutrients (this is all linking rather nicely), a good diet can also help.
You know my usual preaching by now – plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. There are plenty of articles on this site that can help you with this.As with most things about the human body – use it or lose it. The same is for the eyes. When they are staring into space or a 2D screen, they are not doing much work. If this is the case then, just like most of us do not naturally do enough work with our bodies, we must exercise them to keep them healthy. Here are some eye exercise suggestions.

Pencil Exercise
Hold a pencil arms length in front of you. Really focus on the tip of that pencil. Once you have it focussed, very slowly move it towards you whilst still maintaining the focus. See how close you can get it before losing this focus.

Swinging
Focus on a distant object, swaying gently from side to side. Do this for a few minutes every day, blinking as you sway. The blinking helps clean and lubricates the eyes, which is especially important if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer.

Clothesline
Japanese studies show that this exercise can significantly improve your eyesight if done regularly. Place a picture on a clothesline. Stand about a foot away from it and focus on the picture whilst it is (probably rapidly) moving. Move back a foot and repeat. Continue with this until you are about 10 feet away.

Candle Exercise
Eye sight is not just about your eyes. It is also about the eye brain relationship. Your brain must interpret what the eyes pick up. This exercise aims to improve the brain/eye connection.

Put your self in a quiet, dark place and look at a lighted candle. Focus your attention at the blue part of the flame and blink gently. After a minute or two try to imagine the lighted flame with your eyes closed.
If the visualization is not perfect, again look at the blue part of the flame and try to imagine the same without making any effort. When you are able to visualize the flame in your imagination open your eyes
.
Colour Day
Choose a colour and look out for it throughout the day wherever you go. When you see the particular colour, be aware of it. Don’t bother concentrating on the shape of the object, just experience the colour and it’s subtle shadings. This again should help the eye/brain connection.

Sunning
Try to do this daily. It may be difficult if you live somewhere like the UK! Close your eyes. Look directly at the sun through your closed eyes. While facing the sun, slowly rotate your head from side to side as far as you can. This gets the sunlight on the peripheral vision, and it helps bring more blood circulation to your neck. Do this for a few minutes. Enjoy the warming soothing feeling of the sun on your eyes
.
Eye Massage
This exercise helps improve the blood circulation to the eye muscles.
With the index fingers of both hands apply LIGHT pressure on the upper eyebrow and move in a circular motion whilst your eyes are closed. Do these as often as you can – several times a day if you can manage it.

After finishing this, gently make a circular movement only on the eyes to relax them and improve the vision.
If you do some of these exercises regularly, and just appreciate that your eyes need taking care of, you can stay in control of them in later life.

Forgive.
Its much easier to forgive than to hold a grudge. Holding a grudge is like lugging around a sack of potatoes - a sack you keep filling everytime you dont forgive. Not worth the trouble. Let it go. Be at peace with the world - we're simply passing through

Vegetable juices to boost your new dieting strategy .....extract from Sunday Nation

•A number of vegetables with two distinct features: minimal calorie content and nutrient-rich, have been labelled as ‘superfoods’ and are recommended for juicing. These include wheatgrass, barley grass, sprouts, broccoli, and pretty much all green, leafy vegetables

In health food circles, a juicing lifestyle is regarded as a gateway to health and vitality. This is mainly because a number of nutrients derived from vegetables are heat-sensitive and, therefore, destroyed during the cooking process.

And Dr Norman Walker, pioneer of the cold-press juicing movement, recommends that one should eat their fruit and juice their vegetables.

It is said that one’s quality of life will increase from following a juicing lifestyle as maximum nutrients are absorbed, the digestion process is enhanced and energy levels are boosted.

In addition, selective juicing of specific vegetables is reported to target two steps to health — prevention and cure of disease.

Juicing is promoted to treat minor ailments, as well as prevent chronic diseases such as cancer, through the ingestion of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytonutrients and fibre. Some dieticians recommend a juice fast (as opposed to a water fast) as there are benefits of cleaning out of the system while absorbing nutrients.

A litre of vegetable juice is recommended throughout the day, and fruit such as apples and grapes may be added as a natural sweetener to make the ‘green juice’ more palatable. This is with the exception of high fructose (fruit sugar)-containing vegetables such as carrots and beetroots.

Restrictions on the amount of fruit juice or high fructose-containing vegetables consumed are necessary as drinking large quantities of fruit sugars will cause spikes in blood sugar levels, whose regular occurrence is detrimental and thought to be a precursor of diabetes as it affects insulin production.

This is a classic example of how over-doing a good thing for your health can, in effect, make it a bad thing.

Other juicing tips to maximise the benefits include juicing a variety of vegetables from day to day and diluting the juice with clean water.

Wheat grass

A number of vegetables with two distinct features: minimal calorie content and nutrient-rich, have been labelled as ‘superfoods’ and are recommended for juicing. These include wheatgrass, barley grass, sprouts, broccoli, and pretty much all green leafy vegetables.

Wheat grass is the sprouted grass of a wheat seed. Unlike the whole grain, it does not contain gluten, which causes irritable bowel syndrome. Its less well known counterpart, barley grass, is reported to have up to ten times more calcium than cows’ milk, more iron than spinach and more Vitamin C than orange juice!

Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale are reported to contain sulforaphane, an antioxidant which eliminates toxic-free radicals from cells, and is associated with the prevention of cancer.

Spirulina, which is a cultivated micro-algae, is reported to have high protein levels and, therefore, particularly recommended for vegetarians.

Vegetable juices may be supplemented with a view to creating a balanced diet. Supplements include essential oils, specifically the omega 3 and omega 6 containing oils that occur in flaxseeds or flaxseed oil, cod liver oil and evening primrose oil. These unsaturated fatty acids are renown for a range of health benefits, including immune, brain and heart function.

For those new to a juicing lifestyle — note that maximum benefits are reaped from incorporating it into your lifestyle — it is recommended to start with small quantities and gradually build up to a litre per day.

This also gives one’s taste buds time to become progressively accustomed to what may be initially perceived as a strong taste, seeing as we are used to eating cooked vegetables.

Rachel Oppitz, ND, recommends starting with an easy-to-digest recipe of two stalks celery, two stalks fennel and one cucumber, before adding a variety of lettuce leaves, and eventually a few leaves of dark green, leafy vegetables which are more nutrient-rich. Oppitz also recommends adding herbs such as coriander and parsley.

Note that vegetable juice is perishable, but it may stay fresh for up to 24 hours when refrigerated in an air-tight container.

Medical Benefits Of Cucumber Juice

Although most people are familiar with cucumbers since they typically appear on salads, few are aware that cucumber juice proves to be highly beneficial for a wide variety of health related issues.

As seen on multiple films and television shows each year, many people place cucumbers on the eyes to promote healthier skin, made possible by the high levels of potassium found within this fruit (the fruit classification tends to surprise consumers who typically view cucumbers as vegetables, but the seeds within are the key for understanding the correct term). In the same sense, eating cucumbers may decrease the appearance of blemishes such as pimples and blackheads making it an effective and an often-referred remedy for acne.

However, it is essential to understand the full potential of the cucumber by examining the benefits of drinking cucumber juice to combat everything from high blood pressure and constipation to cancer.

Along with healthier skin, cucumbers contain a lot of water making it ideal for a variety of common issues. For those wishing to decrease their blood pressure, drinking this fruit in the form of juice, may provide a noticeable amount of relief as the blood pressure slowly declines. Furthermore, anyone dealing with the pains of constipation will also benefit from this fruit due to its high levels of alkaline and increased amounts of water.

In terms of dieting and diabetes, cucumbers are ideal for an afternoon snack to rebuke hunger for those wishing to lose weight, since it is extremely low in calories proving to be a healthier option than what most tend to lean on when snacking. Finally in terms of a surplus of water, dehydration may also be avoided with this electrolyte-restoring cucumber juice. Next time you are relaxing by the pool, bring your ice-cold glass of cucumber juice to keep you hydrated.

Even if it seems obvious that a fruit being high in percentage of water will assist in helping with the health concerns mentioned above, most are completely oblivious to the cucumber’s amazing ability to act as a pain reliever. Specifically great for those experiencing a sore throat, gargling and drinking cucumber juice throughout the day is sure to provide comfort and a relief of soreness. Along the same lines, decreasing the amount of inflammation may also be accomplished by consuming cucumbers.

Another great factor with this fruit includes its high percentage of sulfur and silicone. For this reason, cucumber juice may aid those wishing to increase the growth of hair. The high amounts of sulfur and silicone also make cucumbers particularly good for growing healthier nails.

Furthermore, cucumbers contain Silica, which is ideal for healthier ligaments, tendons, and muscles, making it perfect for people seeking relief of rheumatoid problems such as arthritis. Now for what may be the most important of all, cucumbers are extremely high in alkaline levels making it difficult for cancer to live in a high alkaline environment; therefore, cucumbers may prove beneficial in avoiding cancer of all types.

What is very important is that in our diet we must make deliberate and conciencious effort to increase our intake of fruits and vegetables and reduce drastically the intake of processed foods because if we eat anything we are likely to see anything in future.

The Carrot juice contains beta carotene, the famous ingredient and an anti oxidant that has powerful healing powers for many diseases. This substance is converted to vitamin A, it also contains organic alkaline elements to balance the blood acidity and blood sugar.

Proper caring of health is a amazing way of healthy living.
For ex. If men are suffering the male impotence problem then they have to take the doctor advise and consume viagra pills for healthy sexual life.

Suppose men are facing the over obesity problem.... they should take balanced diet with proper exercise and take generic acomplia pill for reducing the over weight.

Your feeding pattern is as important as what you eat
.
The ideal thing is your heaviest meal should be breakfast , your lunch should be moderate while your lightest meal should be dinner.

Unfortunately most of us practice the reverse, making our dinner the heaviest.
