@sasha - if it was non-Japanese,I'd ask you to bring it over - there is nothing I like more than trying to figure out a problem car. When the rear vibrates - I am thinking again of the action the wheels have on the automatic gear box - i.e. when you press the brakes - the 'clutch' is supposed to disengage so the car can stop and wait (even on D). So back to the wheels, drive shafts, etc - something is not holding the car back...the vibration to me seems like the brakes/driveshafts/flywheel etc is not having a 100% effect on stopping 'drive' - so there is abt 5% of drive being transmitted to the driveshafts/axles but only enough to make the car vibrate, but not enough to gallop away. So,I go back to the wheels, driveshaft, differenttial and whatever 'clutch' system automatics have (I think its an intertia type de-clutch)

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

Why are so insistent on bringing the 'hairy cat' into such a useful discussion?

Your torque converter (automatic equivalent of clutch found in manuals) is not unlocking when you apply brakes. This effectively means that the engine is pulling against the brakes at standstill (shaking brought abt by stalling engine). Common problem with automatic ae 110 corollas and ep 81 starlets

Or simply,

leave the vibrators and other vibrating items at home.
