Hi wazuans. I'm a big Jazz fan and I'd love to sample a couple of clubs in Nairobi that play Jazz - both live and 'recorded'. Anyone who knows such clubs? I also love poetry - the spoken word - 'street' poetry. Any clubs that host these kind of stuff in Nairobi?
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Maich,
I cannot say am a Jazz lover but lately I have been enjoying listening to Smooth Jazz on DSTV's DMX channels.

Once in a while on Sunday's if I happen to be in the car I listen to Jazz junction on capital fm.

But that's as far as it goes for me?

I am not sure but I find the live bands noisy and not soothing.

One day I went to Serena for coffee with some pals... There was a jazz band playing. Don't know if it was a one off. Was on a Tuesday night, I think. Sorry, not too helpful. I wonder, though, if the Cup a Jazz at Prestige still happens?

Helon perhaps??

Talking about jazz, there something I did over the holidays that I haven't done since college days. I got some really fresh organic stuff from Gusii land and pulled a couple of mind popping tokes. I then put on Earl Klugh. That acoustic guitar was literally talking to me, I could hear every word it said VERY clearly. Will have to do it again, but with David Sanborn and hear what the sax will say.

@MAichblack..I feel you bruh! am into "spoken poetry" on a good-day i can un-leash some serious stuff, ask Mrs dees, however this has only been in the confines of our bedroom or when am singing/reciting for my daughter. I used to rap when i was in school (was quite good at it) so i was told however am terribly shy,keep at it you never know i could just join you??

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

That spoken poetry is the real deal. If you get fellows who know what they are doing - with some mad poetic diction and all - combined with the appropriate ambiance - I'm telling you, you will take one hell of a trip without leaving your chair.

Maybe you should get equally talented fellows and do a show. I'll definitely attend. I hope many like minded people will attend to make it worth your while.

Just make sure you don't get used to the stuff. If it happens you will not be able to survive in our 'normal boring' life. Every time you suspect you are 'coming back' you will be getting some more Gusii stuff ASAP.

@MaichBlack---

Galileos hosts a mean Jazz gig on Thursday nights. The accoustics are much better than K1.

No gaja required.
