@gesowan. Can u then be honest to us that u started this thread on wishes/rumours not facts? If I got the rts at .55, I'll pay commission on .55 and not .55+19.50. If u get the extra rts well and good for u. I do't think there is a loser in either case. Lets wait for the results and avoid speculation.

Kwanza! KPLC Should pay the dividend of 5bob which was due on 15th of this month. I have not seen a cheque or EFT yet. Has anybody received his/her KPLC dividend yet?

i saw some customers depositing their dividend cheques on or about 18th of this month. I expected to receive mine through eft but didn't and am wondering where to start. I dont like using my precious time and resources chasing after my rights.

hi to be sincere this is what i was told as a matter of fact may i quote Dyer & Blair Investment Bank executive chairman Jimnah Mbaru said "the level of subscription for the Kenya Power and Lighting Company’s rights was not clear on Friday, but hinted that the offer could have been slightly under-subscribed".

UNDERSUBSCRIPTION WILL BE A NEW YEAR'S GIFT to all of us who applied for additional shares!!!

@gesowan. I see ur point. However, SLIGHT-under doesn't mean will make all of us winners in our different strategies. The idea was to get the shares in whichever strategy one deemed fit. Also no refund is the best scenario we can have.

Seems there is a confusion here between under, oversubscription and underwriting.
To me in the case of kplc i define the terms as follows;
OVERSUBSCRIPTION; All rights were taken or traded and more than the available was applied for. This will attract a refund. Not likely for kplc.
UNDERSUBSCRIPTION; Not all the rights floated were either traded, taken or applied for, which calls or forces the UNDERWRITERS to take the remaining only within the percentages underwritten.
I see an undersubscrition but less than what was underwriten. which means all rights applied for will be allocated leaving some small portion to be taken by the undewriters.

Innovator, you are correct in the narrations. I doubt if we will having massive undersubsciption in KPLC rights. We might are unlikely to get undersubscritpion below 85% given that a reasonable chunk of the government rights were bought during the last days. The remaining should be allocated to people who applied for extra rights. The underwiters will not spend much money.

The rights involved 488M shares of which the GoK owned about 70%(341M). The GoK was able to trade about 160M of this rights (roughly about 47%). Assuing that the traded rights will all be paid up for, then the GoK quota is fully subscribed for as the other 50% had been underwritten by Centum and Equity bank.
That leaves the other 147M shares (the other 30% of the rights).I anticipate at least 120-130M of these shares will be fully subscribed for.

I anticipate less than 25M shares will be unsubscribed for thus a subscription rate of about 95% (5% undersubscription).

The higher the quantity of shares underwritten by the 2 underwritters the better for the sake of KPLC share stability.

Happy hunting.
