new shareholders -centum/equity getting them rights at discounted 19.5. A bit unfair to existing shareholders. some of us here said this could be highly manipulated. Doesnt price manipulation apply here? We know there are so many rights available to be sold to the market for adefinite period but you release perhaps tiny bits. Am rather intrigued on this.

[quote=TUPAC@mwanahisa i dont see the need of buying them on the market.all you need to do is apply for extra rights if you are a shareholder and you you will get them all at 19.50bob.

The jury is still out on this. If GoK rights are all traded between today and tomorrow, then there will be precious few extra rights to be applied for.

That's why I have got bids on the board with volumes increasing at lower prices as I have no idea what price GoK rights will be traded at if at all. If Gok rights are not sold on the market then of course I will just apply for additional rights. If I am supplied and they do not trade, that is a risk that I am willing to take but I am keeping some ammunition in reserve just in case.

i agree with you and mwanahisa. Hapa kuna kitu. First rights are advertised to death- which on its own is ok. But then in addition, where are gov rights?? Whats their plan, whats going on. It could be nothing, however when we are left to guess whats happening, we have to think the worst.

guys i see kplc will pay over 71 million bob to the underwriters.does this mean these guys will 'earn' this money even if all the shares are taken and nothing is left for them to underwrite? and how was this figure arrived at?

Sure they will. Easy money if the rights are fully subcribed. If they are not it is still great for them. Centum would end up with 10% of the rights issue while EB would have a massive 40% of the rights issue. Highly unlikely for this scenario to play out though.

BTW, I have been buying both Centum @ 21.75 and Equity @24.75 this morning since the market seems to have pushed their prices rather too low!

@aguytrng this is the scandal:most of the government rights will be left to lapse.very few are brought to the market at high prices so nobody will be willing to pay such premium. and guess what happens to the lapsed rights! the shareholders especially the big boys apply for them. the remainder are taken by equity and centum. thats all.

Who knows the allocation procedure after 22nd? Is it possible for Centum n EB to take their 50% under 'the underwritting' pretext before we are considered for additional rts? @Vvs, I still don't trust JM.

What a counter this is turning out to be, the big boys have colluded to swindle the small guys, I think YSBChr might have had a point after all, the rights price was pegged so high (19.50), now you cant even find the rights at the right price (sub 1.50).Those cents will enable them "make a kill". Just my thought
