Wikileaks US secrets leaks exposes communication at US embassy in Nairobi..

there is extensive mention of Kenya in the leaked files.

These involve 1,821 documents

In a few of them, contempt was shown for the kenyan leadership or Kibaki and Raila. This has been reported by European media that had early access to the 250,000 cables.

more to come..I am downloading the full file and I will publish the cables that mention Kenya.

I hope that in between selling our embassies at weird figures, our foreign service mandarins take time to analyse and study the nairobi-related cables...although it doesnt need a genious to figure out what they are likley to be saying.

lesson on wikileaks: there are no secure data networks at all in the world when an insider/ staff runsa mok releasing info!

this will most certainly cause ripples in certain quarters...from the despots adversely mentioned, to the patriots that have refused to become the US' biyatch and yield to commercial interests, to the nations who thought they helped tip the balance of power (and now realise they are no more than minions of the US and other powers).

I think there is so much to digest and this will merit a highly stratified analysis.

I think terrorism will escalate (Iran, PRC and North Korea will be happy to fund this and muddy the global waters). Trade will also suffer - esp Europe/US and Asia/ME at large.

According to NYT online "Slovenia was told to take a prisoner if it wanted to meet with President Obama, while the island nation of Kiribati was offered incentives worth millions of dollars to take in Chinese Muslim detainees, cables from diplomats recounted. The Americans, meanwhile, suggested that accepting more prisoners would be “a low-cost way for Belgium to attain prominence in Europe.”

I think these Americans are in sh*t. They are the kind of friends who laugh with you and then stab you in the back. Anyway isn't that how it is all over?

BBI will solve it

Forbes Magazine, the Wikileaks founder, Julien Assange (who incidentally hid out in Nairobi for a short time) mentions that kroll report and has the following to say:
When we released the Kroll report on three to four billion smuggled out by the former Kenyan president Daniel arap Moi and his cronies, where did the money go? There’s no megacorruption–as they call it in Africa, it’s a bit sensational but you’re talking about billions–without support from Western banks and companies. That money went into London properties, Swiss banks, property in New York, companies that had been set up to move this money“.
Now, Wikileaks is out with yet another “leak” and because this blog is about Kenya, we’ll concentrate on that part of it (they haven’t released the full report, but I’m waiting for it to come out because I’m going to sift through it and write about it here).
However, what has come out so far is very damaging to both Kibaki and Raila and incidentally, I believe that’s why Raila has (all of a sudden) decided to start hitting out at homosexuals. He’s trying to divert attention from the damaging Wikileaks report that will start coming out.

I digress Messr Djinn, well this is "old news" sure it does make an interesting read however but the real issue is now that is in the public domain. It was an "open" secret US was spying on Ban ki Moon, and also China was getting fed-up of North Korea and were considering nuking it,rather than wait the death of Kim jong il and face unknown repurcusiions. In regards to Iran and it's neigbours, this again Ahmedinejad wa aware esp in regards to Jordan, they are best of frenemies!!
What needs to be noted this are individualistic comments and in no regard reflect the countries policy on the particular nations, however America and Co have their work cut out to convince the world otherwise.

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

Assange best release everything he's got very fast. He will be hit by a "stray bullet" or a "heart attack" before the end of 2011

They would not dare take him out.

You see the spy arms of the US Government need him out there so that they can be able to create legislation that allows them to place wire taps on private citizens, something which is, I understand, illegal in the US.

Again remember, the Arms Industry has never allowed the capturing of Bin Laden. They would loose business.

Again, they kill him, they create a martyr.

My penny thoughts.

That's the conspiracy theory doing the rounds. As long as these leaks maintain their credibility then all I want is more

@ all,

I find it amazing that we are shocked! Are we shocked because there is corruption in the country or is it that the American was never our friend. Coz none of this is news at all!!!

is this really from the leaks? I find it hard to believe, it is as strange as a matatu giving you way in Nbi.

Absurd for China to even contemplate, much less using, a nuke (even if a tactical or low-yield weapon) against such a bossom friend as North Korea which looks upto it as thelast true bastion of communism.
Moreover, it would be far easier to starve the vietcongs, given their famous food shortages?? Shame on you

Meanwhile, can't wait for cables on who those 15 kenyans banned from going to US (who cares?)due to corruption (now that we care abt) were, all those PEV clashes, etc

..The phone call was made to RAO to prepare him for what is about to be unleashed by wikileaks about him...Thats y they appologised to him in advance!!! In days to come, some of these words will ne quite common:
"hungry for power",
"easy to work with",
"our close ally",
"agressive without a vision"
"loved by the masses"
etc
