In Africa the path to the presidency is littered with dead bodies. Another african populist strongman could be on his way to the house on the hill. Time will tell.

The appointments also fly in the face of pronouncements by Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Public Service Minister Dalmas Otieno that the government would no longer tolerate not only nepotism but also tribalism in appointments to public service.

Speaking during the launch of the Public Service Week, the PM said the government would take stern action against government officials who practice nepotism and tribalism in making appointments to public service.

Those in the list include Dr Wenwa Akinyi, Kenya’s Consul General in Los Angeles, USA. Amb. Akinyi is a younger sister to Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.

Perpetual liar would be a better title.

Raila on Saturday publicly defended water minister Charity Ngilu against corruption allegations in her ministry at Kitui Municipal Stadium.

Public works assistant minister Mwangi Kiunjuri who is Ngilu's former assistant minister has alleged that there were corrupt deals in the ministry, insisting that he will stop at nothing in unveiling corrupt government officials in his anti corruption crusade.

Who do we believe among the two, Hon Raila and Hon Kiunjuri. Who is more credible?

On a scale of out of a hundred, I would give them the following grades as concerns credibility.

Kiunjuri 70%

Raila 16%

It shows raila condons corruption as you cannot defend what has already been shown to be suspect.

The PM said he does not know the four mpigs and a business man connected to drug trafficking. All he has to do is call his friend PLO Lumumba as the State of Kenya Senator Ramberger gave the KACC the names. He should name them and have them restrained from interfering with investigations.

Amolo can not say he does not know the names of the culprits. He knows and Kenyans know he knows. So why lie? Why protect killers, death merchants and corrupt ministers? What would happen if the PM was the president?

IN Nation: The statement suggests that the government knew the identities of the narcotics kingpins, but was silent on why such dangerous criminals were being allowed to run free with their deadly trade.

The unfortunate impression created was that only small-time users and peddlers were being targeted and arrested.

It was only a few days previously that the US Government revealed it had banned five prominent Kenyans, including at least four MPs, from entering its territory because of involvement on the narcotics trade.

At the very least, Kenyans would have expected that those prominent Kenyans alleged to be involved in the narcotics trade will be called in for questioning, and removed from public office before they subvert investigations.

It's called the power of being politically smart.Raila's political acumen only compares to that of Moi.

In Toro's reign, most Kenyans believed he was a good chap and he made them believe that any problems we got were caused by enemies within and without, same as Amolo!

I don't believe he genuinely stands for change

Interesting comment from a blogger here

Raila's strength in politics lies in his ability to rally gullible masses, do we still have gullible masses? Yes, a lot of them down there in mashinani..

I totally agree, this guy appeals to political naivety!

A few facts:
1. Raneberger will NEVER do anything without consulting RAO
2. Raneberger will NEVER do anything that will work against RAO
3. Raneberger's mission is to make sure RAO is prezzy in 2012 or earlier.
4. RAO will NEVER sacrifise anyone who can bring him votes, whether he is a mungiki, thief , drug dealer, or water contracts thief, makaburi thief, rapist, etc
5. He believes telling a white or black lie is part of politics and no one should ever be blamed for it...
6. Use every opportunity to anihilate your enemy...but scream and say its your enemy who is attacking you. (Pick pocket style)
7. Steal as many votes as you can and then scream that you have seen someone still votes from you...
8. Death is part of life! Whether by soldiers guns in a coup attempt or by matchettes or fire during a national mass action
....

GOD BLESS KENYA GOD HELP KENYA

I have found his insistence to Ocampo not to aim at individuals but to the reason why violence happened a bit odd. I wonder what's cooking.
....above all, to stand.

@Paul Kukubo, as much as you are bashing RAO, what is the president doing about it, being the leader?
Don't take this to mean that I will always agree with what RAO does, but the head should lead by example...not come out in moments of glory...

Why the change of stand in the ICC prosecution? He has previously shown a lot of vigour and passion on suspect being prosecuted
