The issue of which college he attended or did not attend does arise. You do not need to be a university graduate to make reasoned decisions. Last night, Ian made a blunder, period! We also need to give credit where it is due -- on a number of occasions, his comments have helped participants to correct their mistakes and to scale up their subsequent performances.

Am on you on this one 110%. I don't necessarily agree with his decisions all the time but let not a single act of error detract us from appreciating what is otherwise a good general performance of Ian. It is obvious that his opinion carries the heaviest weight among all the other judges: he has built a brand of bluntness and professional respect - expect him in very many more TPFs. And those folks ascribing him homo tendencies, mko na ushahidi ama ni vuvuzela too? M haters ni wengi - and that also means he is successful! @magigi I agree on your comments about folks' appreciation of music in languages they dont click like Lingala.

In other words he is a Simon Cowell wannabe. They come in all shades and forms. Nothing brand-able there. ABK. A FEW FACTS WOULD BE NECCESSARY: 1. ONLY THOSE WHO ARE BORN NAI, TEND TO THINK GUYS FROM SHAGS HAVE UJI BETWEEN THEIR EARS...THOSE TALKING ABOUT THOGOTO ISSUE ARE THE SAME BRAND... 2. IN EVERY MUSIC SHOW IN THE WORLD, THERE IS ALWAYS A LIKE-ALL SOFTY JUGDE AND A RUTHLESS BEAR KNUCKLED DUDE WHO WILL SAYS IT "AS-IS" OR EVEN EXERGERATE FOR MAXIMUM EFFECT.. 3. TPF4 IS A SHOW! EVERYONE EXCEPT THE CONTESTANTS IS ACTING, AND THE WHOLE TEAM AGREES ON THE PROCESS WELL IN ADVACE... 4. COMMENTS ON STEVE WERE QUITE IN ORDER! THE COMMENTS WERE THAT THE VERY NICE SONG WAS ALL MONO-LANGUAGE (OTONGOLO STYLE) WHERE AS THE AUDIENCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ENTERTAINED WITH A NICE MIX...THE COMMENT WAS NOT ABOUT THE DHOLUO LANGUAGE BUT ABOUT THE MONO-LINGUA. 5. ETC

FEEDBACK: Ian Mbugua is truly fascinated! People actually spend time analysing what I do and say and make all sorts of comments, post abuses, and loads of advice. LOL!!!! Please don't bother. This is ME and I make no apologies, and I really don't care one iota what people think about me! I have MY opinions and I will NOT be quiet. BITE ME!!! http://fb.me/MiN9vyyl

What Steve sung on Sunday is not Lingala and should not be compared to the likes of Femi Kuti and the likes. It was more of Ohangla, Tony Nyadundo kind of style. Its equivalent is Kamande wa Kioi, Ken wa Maria etc.
The only thing wrong with his performance is that as a judge you cannot comment on creativity and all that when the contestant sings the whole song in Luo. As one of the teachers said the only words i heard was i think "be my wife" or "marry me". The downside of this is that instead of listening to his voice, the part of the audience who don't understand the language will be caught trying to figure out the words.

I will not rule out a bunch of "project fame supporters" from a certain kibera being hired to booo Ian during the next contest and claim Ian is unpopular, i am willing to bet! Meru Holiness

After watching the rerun of TPF4 yesterday I concour with taz and Judge Ian For a program that is cosmopolitan it is better to put at least a verse that pple could understand....Then That song which steve sung had lyrics of a 3 year old the only part that pple could sing a long was the nyarsuba part. '......to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.' Colossians 2:2-3

Steve did best. The only problem Ian had (and some of you here) is dislike for Luo/Dholuo (inc political affiliations). let's face it folks, Steve is talented, and the song he did was sung well. From your previous posts we know where you come from and your tribal/political affiliations (am sure you know mine too by now).
As for Ian, he's still acting Simon Cowell of American Idols (he-Ian- perfected his acting skills at Phoenix). I wonder when he real Ian will be at TPF
Cheers

Undoubtedly, steve is one of the best! but even the best people do make mistakes independent of their mother-tongues... Steve sang an ohangla in an excellent trained tune...and forgot that while he was on that stage he was an East African, leave alone being my village mate...Call-a-spade -a-spade-not-a-big-spoon... Even the poor Rwandans with their poor english and broken swahili never went full-blast in their mother-tongue, kinyarwanda...
