Would also think it's an error. However, kplc is a parastatal and a profit-sensitive one to the public, so investors should always bear this in mind. highest PROFIT is not the ultimate goal of a parastatal. rather it is efficient affordable public service.

On another slide I have seen the projected PBT for 2010-11 is Kshs 6.061 B. That's an 7.6% increase. That implies that in the subsequent 4 years the increase in PBT will slow down to 15.5%. Why?

I accept that KPLC will be getting deeper into the clutches of GoK, and will therefore become less profit oriented. All the same , I can't help but think that the financial projections on these slides are off the mark. They are way out of sync with the other metrics.

Let's wait for the IM so that we can interrogate this further.

G.O.K merely increased their stake from 44% to 50.1% simply to access cheap loans because it was being wondered why a private company was accessing cheap development loans...

If they had wanted to have a firm grip they would have taken up their rights and maintained its 70% holding it has currently

If YBC shouts are not mere bravado then there must be some hidden reason, YBC may not know it but a deeper analysis of this share might just reveal where the catch is. good work continue the analysis

@Mwanahisa

The government had more control in KPLC when they had preferential shares that the scenario envisaged. In any case the government had always had control of the company from Gichuru's time to present. Like someone pointed, the essence of the gova having 50.1% shareholding is to enable KPLC access cheaper loans.
