According to todays newspaper Zap will be charging 10/= to send money across all networks. Now this is what I hav been waiting for Lets see how safaricom will respond to this threat. '......to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.' Colossians 2:2-3

A Good one. However the catch is, you have to go to a Zap agent to withdraw. The cash sent to u does not 'mix' with mpesa.

Now this is what I hav been waiting for Lets see how safaricom will respond to this threat. It has always been 10 bob ever since. Nothing has changed, this is just a popularization advert. By the way, Mpesa users can send money to any number in any network in Kenya.

Surely this leaves no margins for agents, just another dumb move as usual from Zain A New Kenya

...if none of you is an egent then we should not care what happens to the income of the service providers but the cost we incur when we send or receive money..thelower the cost the better..shida yenu ni nini?...remember we are able to make 3bob calls because of the "wars".. I wish the wasrs could be taken to the petroleium industry...we would be paying 60bob per litre of petrol..

Remember the consumer has to bear the cost of a product. Even if you dont care, that cost will come out in one way or another. E.g imagine, zain suddenly collapses with all the mobiledeposits.

Reaally, @Layman,will you put your deposits into abank that you know is not adequately paying its employs, is making big losses that might bring it down any time(remember there is alimit to how much losses any firm can bear).
The telcoms are now operating in virtually all sense as banks in so far as deposittaking is concerned, yet the deposits are not properly regulated like banks.

Very few agents will go near this, agents share charges with the provider thus how much can they make from this. Actually the biggest threat to Mpesa will be the orange platform. This is just but another naive loss making call from Zain 'They say money cannot buy me happiness but when i compare when i had none and now, i'm happier' Kevin O'leary

zain was simply informing all customers & potential customers that zap service will be running throughout the weekend, mpesa had said they will upgrade over the weekend, however this was canceled. No price war here, the charge for sending money has always been 10/

No price war here, the charge for sending money has always been 10/ Yes, it has alway been 10 shillings and the number of Zap agents have always been tiny.
