For example, if their parents lost their jobs during the periods 1985 - 1991, then you bet they couldnt access proper education, even if it was tertiary colleges... With the death of all those companies, there was no money to sustain jua kali enterprises and start ups.... Even though they couldnt understand, i think the impact was alot..... and waiting from 1992 - 2003 when things started turning upwards, you find many had wasted many years during that period.... i think i have observed the same in my area too.... but all the same, there are those who got lucky too.

The same push factor was in play in Uganda during Amin's rule and it is currently in play in Mugabe's Zim.

Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Rank: Elder Joined: 2/7/2007 Posts: 11,935 Location: Nairobi		@Mukiha, How could you forget the ever so efficient Kenya School Equipment Scheme??....In our days,text books and stationeries were so free....Moi screwed this scheme from behind and thus began the days of paying school fees in Primary schools....It was also during his rule that aid agencies run out of town due to mismanagement of funds...Remember SIDA?(Swedish International Development Agencies).This body alone supplied the then technical schools with equipment and expertise worth millions of shillings in the hope of making Kenya an industrial country.There were others such as DANIDA and KEFINCO.....In those days,AI services were prompt and at a very affordable fee...To have your cow "climbed" today,you need to break into a bank....lol Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
