Hello,

I am thinking of moving to equity bank to be my stock broker/agent.

I already have an cash account with them with Internet banking.

My question:

Does their internet banking also include shares bought and sold

If u r abroad,u will be disappointed. Their trading is tedious and expensive so I went back to my broker who has online order placement n statements.

1.EB has no online platform for stock orders - u have to download order form fill n fax or scan and email. Valid for only 3 days. If unsuccessful with ur order - repeat process.

2.Bank account not linked to ur share account - each time u do 1 above, they transfer funds for the share purchase and charge u ksh 50 for the transfer. if after 3 days,ur order is unfulfilled - which is common,u have to start all over again and pay ksh 50 each trial.

3. when successful,u pay a transaction fee of ksh 300 plus the usual 2.1 or 1.8% commissions.

Its ironic, their process is tedious and pre-dot.com,more inconvenient and costs more. So am back to my broker with onilne trades and statements. But u an see why equity makes a lot of money.

U can try them n judge for urself.

slykat,

Which broker do you use? Does the broker have internet access.

I am thinking of joining dyer and blair. Are they reasonable?

I use drummond investment bank - no major probies with them since the kengen refund debacle.

u can place orders online or per email. u must have anr bank account or do cash deposits at their bank, coz equity online allows internet banking only between equity bank accounts.

dont know anything about DB except that when i tried opening an account with them it was like trying to get a passport from nyayo hse - didnt have the time.

Caveat
in this era of cowbow brokers - here 2day,gone 2morrow - this is not an endorsement of drummond. do ur own due diligence, ukipoteza pesa usiseme ni mimi.

I use drummond. Their counter service can be rated as good but their online service is pathetic. The weblink is always broken.

If you send e-mails to their representatives they normal retrieve your e-mail from the JUNK BOX!

Try this link now to see for yourself - http://www.drummond.co.ke/ or http://www.francisdrummond.co.ke/

Good luck. Would you try them?

D&B online ok for me.

Hotels will always serve the fruits/vegs of the season. In stocks,ur duty as a trader is to identify the HOTshare of the season.

I have used NIC Capital (formally,Solid Investment Securities) for very, very, many years....and have had no problem. E-mail orders are executed promptly...but you must have the cash in your stocks account.

If you have an account with NIC bank (which I don't),you can easily transfer funds to your stocks account using the bank's online service. But as I said,I don't have a bank account at NIC so I don't know how efficient the process is
