Not good news from across the border. Quite a contrast compared to the Kenyan situation.

The report seems to be from June last year to June this year. Equity is announcing soon, maybe we'll get more up to date info. Did KCB mention the specific amount of money they lost?

I thought only Stanbic Ug had reduced profitability in during the 1st half period!

So many banks in Uganda yet the quality of service generally sucks... and very expensive... Best banks are Crane Bank & Diamond Trust...

You know, crane bank is known for taking people's property, as Sudir has been termed a loan shark.

DTB isn't among the top 5 banks, in terms of assets and profitability, am not sure when it comes to efficiency.

1) I don't care if the bank is large or small... I want safety & service... DTBU gives me both!
[Stanbic sucks! They are too pricey for me. I liked dfcu but DTBU is in Kenya too]

2) Crane Bank: Do not know but Ugandans don't like paying back loans! Ask Equity Bank who have had a horrid experience! Crane Bank is a local bank who knows how to get the collateral if you don't pay back what you borrowed...

Yeh, a good number aren't that disciplined when it comes to loan payment. But its said that Sudhir(CEO of Crane Bank), always looks for prime businesses and properties,then lends the proprietors hoping that they may fail to pay. No wonder he is famed for that and ofter times called called a loan shark. Whats even more amusing is he owns over 200 prime properties in kampala.

@Msimon

What is the major problem? Is it that guys misuse the money they borrow or they just do not want to pay?
