I will lead this country one day,and I will to Kenyans what they long for. It will be peacefull though.

I will do to them what Mandela did to South Africans,Churchill did to the Brits,DeGaulle did to the French,Gandhi to Indians,Washington and Roosevelt to Americans.

My heart blleeds for my Country when I see it being torn apart by greed. To the young people,we shall do it.

Any challenge to the status quo will only succeed if the young and the old support it.

I was here in Nairobi during the PEV,and went around the town and its dangerous environs sometimes at very odd hours just to respond to SOS calls. Toegether with some very close friends we rescued people who had otherwise been surrounded. This was done regardless of where one came from.

The problem at the time was that the so called leaders (I prefer tribal chieftans) were leading a tribal campaign from the front. Would you imagine what would have happened if we had leaders who rejected ethnic cleansing in word,will and deed? There was massive incitement and brainwashing of the youth by these warlords that for a moment 'reason' went through the window.

This country cries out loud for a leader,a statesman,a man with passion and love for the country. A man who will recognise that the strength of Kenya lies in the diversity of its people.

Kenya is a small country. I do not understand how it can take us more than 7 years to write a constitution.

We have lazy lawyers & legistrators,a lazy president,and a lazy civil service. How come the youth were quiet when civil service age got extended for 5 more years.

This generation of old people believe the youth cannot take over their government.

And you do not need to go very far. You need only look at the posts on SK threads today...

If the cosmopolitan,educated,well-traveled young Kenyans today are still discussing how tribe this does X,and tribe that does Y,and if tribe A does not do this they will see dust...in 2009 AD...then why should the nation vote out Kibz,RAO,KM,UK,Ruto and the rest of the old guard only to replace them with someone with firmer biceps but has the same line of thinking?

The nation might be the worse...cause this guy will be a tribalist on steroids. Better the devil you know...

The question that has been asked and begs answering is;

'What do you want the youth to do'

Kenyan youth of today (I think I will restrict them to those who went through the 8-4-4 system of education) have worked really hard to succeed in a very difficult environment.

Especially under the 24 year Moi misrule and now the cold atmosphere of the Kibaki rule.

We have grown up and had to observe first hand deception,lies,cheating and stealing by our superiors that has created doubts on the merits of hard work or taking the straight path.

Further more we have been caught up in the age of HIV 90's when families lost their entire parents and uncles,taking with it the advise and benefits that they would have passed down. And then there is the shrinking farmsize that has taken away the simplest form of livelihood.

Infact I applaud the youth for their patience that enabled the PEV to stop,as we have witnessed in many other african countries,once such killings begin,they never stop,or stop when its too late.

With all the above challanges,I believe the youth while not in the top political class currently will definitely move in come 2012. I read a lot of chatter by people I know who feel that we must take our destiny in our own hands.

@Ceaser,your ideas are fantastic,but they cannot be done in a vacuum. As the facts are today,moving in to remove the Old guard without due process is something akin to a revolution and shows mere lack of discipline.

Would you rather you lived in Fidel Castro's Cuba that had its revolution 50 years ago and has been living with Fidels speeches since then or would you rather be in Indonesia where they had mock democracy for 40 years under a benevolent dictator but at his exit,they already new the process and have literally exploded over the past 10 years with good economic growth and better democracy.

The patience and discipline we show as youth be it in the army or in our jobs is our best chance of success,we must respect the laws even if our leaders do not.

Personally,I don't want a dictator like Kagame or Museveni,I am happier free but poor than rich but restricted and afraid.



I guess if you can't win with facts,you can always pen bile-laced,xenophobic rants to distract everyone.
