@kyukkamba, seems a straightforward business case. Alot of electronis on the move etc, but look deeper. A business with cut-throat competition and big players wielding economies of scale. Also, this is not a vegetable business where commodities expire, but instead commodities devalue when you're still stuck with old stock in hand...

So I'd say you need to think more of a service. What electronic stuff would you get out there to someone's office to cut the hustle. Even if it's as simple as delivering and replacing all toners in client's office for them before they know they've run out - make the client lazy.

But Service is key as shown in the new Top100 SME survey. And then you're margin is justified by the incremental value or hustle you're preventing the client from going through...

I agree with muganda. Going into selling electronics sounds to me like what in some quarters is called "me too venture"

Unless you have a very well defined niche you want to exploit, I would say proceed with extreme caution!

Combining the two ideas, how about starting a service for fixing car electronics on the cheap? I know there are many luxury car owners who are extorted by the showrooms for electronic spares because they don't have any other choice

@ Kyukkamba

Did you know that you can get previously owned 3GS Iphones for a song in Japan? Given the japs & their stringent regulation of E-waste, y'all will be doing them a big favour.

The same phone here will fetch between Kshs 7,000/- to Kshs 9,500 easily, especially if you have the support software and data cable in the package.

Problem is, unless you have relaz in Japan, a return flight will set you back Kshs. 140,000 and accomodation should fyeka the rest of your chums smile.

Alternatively, you could go the Uganda/Dubai way and nab a coupla nokia chinese knockoffs if you already have an outlet. Return on investment isn't bad, especially if you have a stall with street frontage.

@ Muganda, Redondo & Kenyan Lyrics.
Me-too ventures account for 390,000 new jobs to the Kenyan economy EVERY YEAR; the more dubious its location, the better.
So nice that its nasty, so bangin' its busting,
So slick that its sick, so dope its disgusting!
