mmmm,

going through various kenyan blogs and forums,lots of kenyans condemn k24 as kikuyu24. is this another systematic attack ochestered by k24's scared rivals to sabotage the network since they have now gone national? i love this station to bits due to their comprehensive coverage of balanced news without fear or favour and if you don't believe it,just watch jeff's '3 sides of a coin' every friday after the news. i think just like equity bank which is constantly being attacked,k24 is going places,will create many jobs and plays it's right role. it will surely thrive despite the harsh tribal attacks which our culture flourishes in. i also take this opportunity to welcome the indefatigable louis otieno into my favourite channel. or am i wrong and k24 is indeed tribal??

@jaribu

You say you love the channel,you watch it,you are hence the consumer of their products. In your own judgement,have you seen anything tribal in it? Why do you want to see it from another persons eye? If they are looking hard for 'tribe' they will surely find it... as they say 'seek and you shall find'..... if it works well for you,enjoy it...... I think in this country,anything that is headed by i kikuyu is tribal but if it is headed by anyone else,its not....... to many,it is very easy to interchange the two words - kikuyu and tribal... they are used as synonyms..... so nothing to really worry about.

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

the guys are abit balanced and objective in their reporting. their entry point into a monolithic type market was unique,which helps them drive up the tall scale of the tv investment in kenya. however their employees are imbalanced in relation to tribal representation,with kiuks taking over 90% of all positions.
secondly after changing ownership to uk,it means it will change to political class that may be used for political campaigns. remember uk is contender for the big the seat,implying acqusition of the media (k24 + people newspapers) could be a strategic move.

there are three reasons why someone would claim the station is tribal.

1. political agenda- leaning to the interest of certain political party or community. i find the reporting fair and balanced without any doubt.

2. staff especially the visible ones- if the proportion from gema is out of control as chi2o claims. i don't have the evidence that most employees are from one community and really don't pay much attention to their names,FYI the only two k24 guys who come to my mind are jeff and louis!

3. ownership- especially if the owners are politicians. if the owners (Uhuru) are from a certain community then people may hint that the station will front their political agenda. in my opinion,i do accept this may hurt the station as it will be perceived to front the uhuru agenda but so far,it hasn't.

@Jaribu,if I had such good things to say about the station like you seem to be stating,I would not even have started this thread the way you did.

It would also b interesting to find out the tribal representation of other stations say ntv and ktn citizen.There is a sizeable no of tribal(as wendz put it synonymously) in the mentioned stations.I see some two major tribes have really taken the media houses by storm and no storm has been raised by those jaribu is talking about.

You only need to read the names and see the (im)balance.But I am more interested in professionalism than the tribal arithmetic.

of course since the only names known upto when louis came on were koinange and kimotho/kenyatta...

kimotho => kameme fm =. kikuyu
kenyatta => gatundu => central

they should imitate KTN... fire all Kikuyus ... including Jeff... but make sure the News editor and the teleprompter operators all come from central...

and hire a good mathematician an election is around the corner...
