I have a vehicle which I would like to give to an auto dealer to display in the yard. But two people are warning me that most dealers are very crooked, they will sell the car and refuse to pay you immediately giving all sorts of excuses under the sun. I'm also informed many misuse client's vehicle and claim it was a 'test drive' which is of course not true. One guy told me how he found out that a certain dealer made more profit than him by colluding with the buyer. I'm also told they can easily sell a vehicle and issue you with a bouncing cheque and if you go to court, they will admit liability and offer to be paying off the debt slowly for probably ten years! Are dealers so crooked and what's the best way to safeguard against being ripped off? This reminds me of the current Kamukunji MP one Simon Mbugua who was running Lang'ata Rd Motors and had so many court cases by his clients. Any Advice good people?

May be just put a 'for sale' on the car and give your contacts.

By the way, what are the risks of giving your real number on the 'for sale' sign? Am not saying you give fake number,i am thinking of say, using a new line for that transaction only ama hiyo haiwesmek? Anyone with experience of selling their own cars?

I also have a 1998 well maintained nissan sunny B14. how much should i expect to realise? 390k?

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

i wouldn't be too comfortable being asked by a total stranger we go for a test drive. what if he pulls a gun on me or organizes some drama further down the road? you really can't trust anyone here in kenya, can you? case of being damned if you do and damned if you don't. look how innocent taxi drivers are being slaughtered like kondoos!

i hv first had experience with these croocks,im contemplating taking the case to higher level. Try lineages in newspapers (esp on tues, wed, thurs) and car bazaar on sundays @ jamhuri park. These avenues really sells.
