For Once,A prominent Son of the Lake has shown the way. Other westerners shud follow suit . No Need for a month of mourning,no need for funds raisers.

Brethren,this is a true son of Kenya,very patriotic. Land should be left for what its best for,real estate and green houses and speculation.

RIP Okuthe and thanks for being a leader even in rest.

Never heard of in Luo Nyanza! 6*6 piece of land for burying the dead can't be a such a big deal,can it?

But you shall remember the LORD your God,for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth,that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers,as it is this day. Deu 8:18

@eli 5mn jaluos x 6 x 6 = land Nyanza does not have. And this isn't arid land.

cremation is the way to go. we cant keep on buying space to burry a body that has no value anyway. It rots away and returns to soil,the land remains unused forever.

Okuthe led the way,can others follow? Not kuenda - hiyo ni Mungu anaamua,I mean ku-chage will so the body is cremated,or even donated for studies..

Okuthe's wife is my hero! I don't care if you wish to cremate,burn,bury or even float in the air...Let the women folk learn from this woman..... It is not the mode of the funeral that is important but your right as a spouse to make decisions that were discussed earlier.....This idea of chiefs,headmen and clansmen suddenly appearing to make decisions for you should be done away with.....I have always wondered why these clansmen never show up when a poor person in Kibera leaving 6 kids with a jobless widow and who died from AIDS,passes...But will somehow turn up to eat goats,sheep,chicken,cows and beans they never worked for......WAY TO GO MRS.OKUTHE and Godspeed to you.

I am with the family on this.
I mean the nuclueus family,not the others,.... busy bodies who show up only at such times to export their confusion to an otherwise tranquil family.
Granted brothers and sisters are expected to participate,but their input is secondary to that of the core family.
Traditions place is far down in the hierachy of priorities.
You practice traditions if they serve your aspirations- so you sieve which to carry over with and those to jettison through the window.
Mrs Okuthe had it all figured out.
Those who thought they could stall her plans be beaten to it,by one 'guile' move well executed.

The issue here has to do inheritance.There is a woman who emerged in his death and could be the source of all this squabbling. Like Nancy intones,the clan and company only features where some wealth distribution is a possibility.

TRS,I am on the same wavelength as you!!!!

The chief value of money lies in the fact that one lives in a world in which it is overestimated.
