@Cicero.....they are actually "EMBRAERS" and those were bought second hand from various, only one, was new.

A380s would be pretty useless for KQ at the moment due to several reasons:
1.KQ is all boeing, cheaper for training, more common parts etc
2. Dont think they have like a standalone route with 555+ pax at the moment
3. Airport runways have something called a PCN= Pavement classification number. A380 ACN= aircraft classification number exceeds the Jomo PCN, so it cant land in NBO

Tanzania makes a play for Delta flights http://www.flightglobal....-hong-kong-express.html

And lousy KAA continues dill-dallying on expanding JKIA. Poor KQ will lose business to others at this rate!

The KQ share gurus question for you:-

What will be the market reaction (effect on share price)if KQ tripples it's net profit (compared to same time PY) for the half year ended 30th Sep 2010?

I think the World Cup provided a lucky break for KQ but I don't think it's sustainable. I used KQ last week and they have not improved in customer service, time keeping and price. I still rank them last compared to the other airlines I've used.
Btw how is Air Uganda? I see the former KQ commercial director Hugh Fraser, is the one running it? Has anyone here used them?

BBI will solve it

Positive earnings surprises generally tend to boost the stocks of companies that report them. The degree of the change in the price depends on whether the extent to which the increase in profitability is really a surprise.

You will be surprised by the number of people in this market who always appear to have an idea of what the actual numbers will be reported either through deduction or some more nefarious means. Just watch price action on any counter prior to the announcement.

I would hazard a guess that more than 80% (if not more) of any surprise on the NSE will have been factored into the share price by the date of the announcement. The End result is that the share price does not change nearly as much as one would expect.
