this stock once touched 355 in dec 2006.

pity all those who bought at that price and for poor brothers and sisters who will buy it again at those levels this time around.

The earning power is there... I expect KPLC to make between 35-45 for 2009-10... And even more in 2010-11...

I was Reading an Analysis where it shows the Net Asset Value (NAV) of a share of KP&L co @ Kshs 318.19

Could someone shade some light on how this value is calculated and if this value ascertains the market price of the share.

For e.g NAV for TOTAL is kshs 51.22(market price 31.25) and Kengen NAV is 28.67 (market price 17.50) -NET ASSET VALUE HIGHER than the market price.. would that mean those shares are underpriced & thus a good Investment???

It may be rising but the in-efficiency in this company is wanting am sure were it not for the monopoly many would quit their service, just like the times of telkom kenya, the time for kplc is coming.

yah it's coming but it may take 50 years. KPLC and telkom are not comparable. look at the infrastructure needed to distribute power and compare it with the telecommunication sector that is more flexible.

I think they have a lot of time and resources to get their act together and I think they will and I think they have a huge advantage going into this new constitution but there is a risk because the new counties will have the choice on whether to use KPLC services or not... if I understood it well.

BBI will solve it

Except for those who have Dams or Geothermal or CoGen or Wind Farms... the rest especially Nairobi is stuck with KPLC for the near future...

And Nairobi/Central has the highest consumption...

So, what's driving this counter anyway? It was at 190/- just the other day and I haven't heard anything exciting. I even sold @210/- in the fantasy mkt thinking it had reached it's peak.

BBI will solve it
