So @moneydust & @RVP are saying that corruption & heavy-handedness are OK?

What happened to the concept of ZERO corruption?

It is when you ACCEPT the notion of corruption or submission that the problems start! When my fathers said nothing (or just grumbled) about kenyatta's corrupt ways [land-grabbing, forgiving ngei the thief, 10% in every business] that we started down a SLIPPERY slope!

Then moi built on it... he ended up with absolute power. Not in one grab but by the citizenry who 'compromised' with the devil... Soon the devil owned us. Lock, Stock & two effing Barrels!!!

@RVP - I know what you are saying but the mediocrity runs through the entire system! KPA, KPC, KPRL, MoE, NOCK. Not to mention the corruption! nyoike & his buddies were out there defending/protecting Triton. The Kenyan taxpayer (aka VVS & friends) paid/lost KES 8 Billion!

@vvs its not accepting corruption but being real about its existence...

The G.O.K could decide to expel KK tomorrow and believe me neither the shareholders or the management could do DAMN thing...

And does KK really think KPRL is going to pay it 5billion...
Segman should stop wasting time with this and get back to business...

In the corporate sector you have *ABSOLUTE POWER* if you are the Chaiman and the CEO at the same time (2006 to date) and if that is not enough you assume role of a spin-doctor aka spokesman. With such powers plus a little bit of arrogance you will never see why KPRL,KPC,KPA should be doing business in Kenya. Infact if you compare & contrast MOI & Jacob I Segman there is a very thin line in their modus operandi.

I also wonder why some people have to call others *idiots*. Infact calling others idiots make you the big one.

Facing reality is the essence of life.....
We all detest corruption and unfair govt machinations. However we must all look at the downside and upside of everything we do.
That said its inconceivable to think that KPRL,KPC can pay KK the billions it is askin 4 because these are largely govt institutions and such payments will need to be financed by treasury..and even if the judgements go KK's way the cost of the victory will b so high (here am thinking delicensing pending determination of the suit )as to negate the potential rewards

KK has managed to make billions in the past inspite of the inefficient/harsh operating environment. They should go back to that and seek better ways of putting their point across...

If only KK could go 8/- for a nice discounted long term entry. Unlike total kenya, kk is highly diversified with solid biz across the subsahara.
$15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

We'll see tomorrow. A low of 8.40 today, though there was a lot of demand at that price range which pushed it up.

KK should just hope for a regime change in 2012 otherwise mambo yao kwisha in the retail sector. You don't step on the toes of regulators in your anchor market and expect to survive at a time when the oil and energy sector is being restructured

BK..small time thinking. If ERC stuck to its mandate and some of its personnel did not have secondary interests in the same industry they are regulating we may not have come to all the nonsense we are witnessing.KK believed in their rights ,stood by them and in terms of their contract raised a dispute with KPRL.This is going for arbitration as provided for,so lets wait for the outcome of that,if KK lose they pay the 600M.and we move on.
