.Is the Luo tribe an endangered species. I couldn't believe when it was placed number 4 in the national census. Why am I saying this? Luos are known to be good lovers and many rarely use protection and any family planning methods. What went wrong? Their numbers have drastically fallen over the years and they have been overtaken by other ethnic communities. This should be very worryng to politicians who use numbers to saty in power! I know HIV/AIDS has taken its toll in this community. But is this the only reason? Like South Sudan, should the leaders up there urge their people to arm themselves properly in the bedroom...use their guns and airports and all other landing accessories properly...!!! If you ask me,this will be the height of folly!!!

Politician Onyango Midika urged the Luo community to put more effort in adding to their population. That was back in the 90s.Seems they never listened or as Otieno Otieno argues in today's Nation, the enemy is HIV

On another note, does tribal size really become an advantage anywhere else apart from politics?

I look forward to the time we'll be so inter married we cant tell our tribes.
But to come back to your question, the region has the highest rate of HIV along with the coast. Hence the numbers i guess.
....above all, to stand.

@magigi and @kadonye - This is a very backward way of thinking. Why should anyone care about how many they are in their community? What should worry you is how many you are under your roof and if you and your spouse can take good care of all your kids. Quality vs Quantity. Why would you want to have 8 kids whom you can't take to school, roam the estate in dirty/torn clothes, can't remember the last time they had a decent meal etc. etc. so that you can increase the members of your tribe? That is the most stupid thing ever!

There is a guy I heard on radio today who was suggesting that the Government should introduce a law so that people who get more kids than they can take care of are imprisoned. As absurd and impractical as that might sound, I think something should be done. You are busy getting kids you can't take care of then you want them to get free education [Primary and Secondary], free health care, free land, - "Naomba serikali bla bla bla...". And what is being used to finance this? MY [and your] tax money!!! Do you benefit? How much does this guy pay in taxes? Your guess is as good as mine.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
