@vvs well said. The govt, which is run by OUR taxpayers money should realise that KK is a leading KENYAN LISTED firm. Thousands of honest taxpaying kenyans have put in their hardearned cash into kk regardless of bwhat's interests. And the issue of giving tenders to obscure private firms, which disappear with billions due to a bank owned partly by taxpayers, in return for kick-backs is in bad taste. Let them know that we know, and their days are numbered

I think Essar was promised that KPRL would be allowed to process 50% of Kenya's crude imports... This has the making of Orange-Telkom debacle... Something tells me Essar will end up suing GoK for promises not met...

Anyway, the GoK are being idiots... well, the corrupt ones know what they are upto...

KK may have a water tight case. But I think a bare knuckles all out war with the government and its key institutions such as KRA, KPL and KPA is never wise in the long run for such a large company. The state has so many legal ways of squeezing management's balls that it is the shareholders who eventually end up losing.

What I am hoping they are doing in the background is finding ways to settle this out of court and away from the limelight. KK may have to eat some humble pie and then ask the government to do the same as a compromise.

One of the main reasons Exxon Mobil, BP, Chevron, Shell or even investment banks like Goldman Sachs have survived till today is keeping the government of whichever country they operate in happy. It is a sad fact but it is just how big business functions.
