Sure we will all see its wisdom as they write history. Did KK benefit from peferential treatment during total man Biwott days?

biwott's influence is now history... At least 8 years ago!

I became a shareholder AFTER 2002... so I want my firm to do well... If the current GoK have a beef with biwott... go after biwott not KK...

biwott has properties, shares (including KK)... so go after those not after KK which is a PUBLIC firm...

@vvs well said. The govt, which is run by OUR taxpayers money should realise that KK is a leading KENYAN LISTED firm. Thousands of honest taxpaying kenyans have put in their hardearned cash into kk regardless of bwhat's interests. And the issue of giving tenders to obscure private firms, which disappear with billions due to a bank owned partly by taxpayers, in return for kick-backs is in bad taste. Let them know that we know, and their days are numbered

Will we see a minor price rally tomorrow? Or at least the share halting its recent slide?

Should the govt force KK to process crude at the refinery, given that KPRL is a private co owned by Essar (not sure of %)

I think Essar was promised that KPRL would be allowed to process 50% of Kenya's crude imports... This has the making of Orange-Telkom debacle... Something tells me Essar will end up suing GoK for promises not met...

@mjuaji - Shareholder activism is minimal in Kenya... A pity!

Anyway, the GoK are being idiots... well, the corrupt ones know what they are upto...

Getting married to a share is dangerous....it can only lead to constant heartaches and pent up emotions.

KK needs to choose its battles well..they also need to value their shareholders more and focus on their core mandate.
They need to realize they r not civil society..they r a capitalist entity which have a civil way of influencing government....Acting the rebel within is not wise..

The path they have taken is a path to destruction and mayhem..

KK may have a water tight case. But I think a bare knuckles all out war with the government and its key institutions such as KRA, KPL and KPA is never wise in the long run for such a large company. The state has so many legal ways of squeezing management's balls that it is the shareholders who eventually end up losing.

What I am hoping they are doing in the background is finding ways to settle this out of court and away from the limelight. KK may have to eat some humble pie and then ask the government to do the same as a compromise.

One of the main reasons Exxon Mobil, BP, Chevron, Shell or even investment banks like Goldman Sachs have survived till today is keeping the government of whichever country they operate in happy. It is a sad fact but it is just how big business functions.
