Jamani wrote:tkzee wrote:BTW was will happen if Zain strategy suceeds?are we likely to see James Mwangi seeking a patnership with Zain? What if KCB sees the opportunity and goes for it? what will happen if, safcom also lowers its prices to the level of zain and yu? i bet someone will close shop or sell again to another owner @jamani thats why i said its a LOSE LOSE situation for safcom because if they lower their rates this will seriously dent their revenues and profits and voice counts for 70% of their revenues. If they don't lower their rates they lose market share to zain... So my advice is SELL Mark 12:29 Deuteronomy 4:16

So my advice is SELL @guru, i dont think so, once they lower someone will start complaining about monopoly before closing shop, it will be a true monopoly and the rest you know, volumes will do the work due to large numbers to generate revenue, not as high but good enough for profitability.

Just browse Bharti airtel website (the Indian one) n u'll begin to understand the competition safcom is up against. Also note the sh.12 billion warchest they'll invest in Kenya. Safcom can NEVER lower their charges to the level of Zain. Its painful but its true. Conventional thinkers waste time building shelters when they are unnecessary and then have no shelters when they need them the most. Socionomists do the opposite.

I know safaricom thinkers are working on something and once its ready it will make Bharti feel the heat and just concentrate on other parts of africa, thats what happened to celtel and zain. Unlike India and even Africa Kenya is a different market and its not approached from the basis that a company is successful in thier country and think they will win here, i remind you of the brewer from SA enormous company with lots of money and investments and world class quality products. People changed to thier products (two beers for a price of one)the rest you know... someone closed shop

The issue is one of 'pride' for Bharti Airtel... They cannot be seen to 'fail' in Kenya which is their Africa HQ... Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

In the battle between the 2 elephants (Bharti & Safaricom)... the minnows Orange & YU will be toast! Yu has dropped rates to 3/- too + sms @ 0.50 lakini they dont have the impact that Zain/Bharti has... Greedy when others are fearful. Hakuna.hakuna yoyote . @qw isn't safcom the master of the 5/- bob economy, heck they even have a 5 bob scratch card. Zain tactics are wanting why cut prices while their scratch cards are not available. Simply not enough outlets stock them.safcom scratchcards you find at kiosks, butcheries, mamambogas etc. Ati their sim cards ran out when executing their killer move ha ha ha ha. Life is short. Live passionately.
