Hi Wazuans...

Anyone know of someone who rents apartments in a safe area in Nairobi. Hopefully with 24 hour security. I just need it for 3 weeks and 1-2 bedrooms would do just fine.

Let me know!

If you are in Nairobi, there are some apartments just before Braeburn. The name is Toretti or something like that. They are very affordable and you can access them by public means or private car. And the neighbourhoud is ok.

They are one of the few places where you pay for the period you occupy. I wish I had retained their business cards d'oh!

hi simplicity.

not sure what your budget is but don't see why one should pay USD 2K per month for a 1 bedroom apartment when you can get a furnished bungalow with a front and backyard in a good, clean and secure neighborhood for much less.

Thanks guys...I am checking your recommendations.

@ Interesting7, I just have the feeling that gated apartments provide better security and if I am in the country for 3 weeks to a month,I don't want goons scaling fences to find me and my family in a secluded bungalow. Will contact you to find out the security of the bungalows...of course I woud prefer a bigger area.

hi simplicity.

my post may have been a little unclear. just wanted to mention that it is not an isolated bungalow but one that is in a secure gated court and in an estate that is less than 7 miles from the CBD. in case you are interested, you can drop me a line.

cheers

Umm...no offence, but many Wazuans live in Nairobi too, am sure that they don't get goons doing all that movie like stuff... at least not every month :) Anywho, try the sites u've been given, pretty helpful, plus dont be too afraid, u might just attract them goons :) Happy stay in the.... City in The Sun? I think.

I like the last part of your statement....very mind-settling. I have always said until you encounter these fools, you will never know the fear a past victim has for them. Thanks for the advice though. I am checking.

Unfortunate to quote this, but ever heard of Norfolk towers apartments? This are some of the most well guarded apartments in the whole of Nairobi.....unfortunately, the renowned writer and Kenyan patriot Ngugi Wathiongo was attacked with his wife there....don't be paranoid.

Paranoia can save your life in Nairobi sometimes...ask those guys who have been drugged in town by fumes from strangers asking for directions...

But...I digress...@simplicity, check out The Hamptons at the junction of Argwings Kodhek and Ole Odume road, they look pricey but are worth it for the premium.
