The government is taking too long on the privatisation of sugar firms. If Mumias gains control of a company like Nzoia it would mean more sugar, more electricity, more ethanol and ultimately greater profits(leading to a good rise in the share price) GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE

It's easy for investors to get emotional and prejudiced when trading, but computers don't

Mumias will continue with it's good performance for as long as that ''price control something is not signed into law by Kibaki''. Mumias Sugar and Unga will be the biggest culprits of this populist act. But i suppose Kibaki will do what he does best.... hio act haitoshi.... hapanaaaaaaaaaa!! YOY ,mumias will report 20-30% growth full year .The 500% first half rise in EPS was due to closure of the factory for maintenance activities in the previous year.

@Njunge,dont just bark, show where i am misleading.EPS for the half year to Dec 2008 was 11 cents.Low cane supply and plant closure in August 2008 were given as the reasons. It is from that low base that EPS rose to 68 cents as at 31st Dec 2009,a 500% increase. So if you expect the same at full year, dream on.

True, EPS last FY was KES 1.05, so if they repeat their feat for HY then expect FY EPS KES 1.36, 29% to 30% increase. A New Kenya

@cnn, I do not have a problem with the rise of EPS but the reasons therein given.Sugar industries all over the world take time out for annual maintenance. From many days back, this program was controlled by the ministry of agri to avoid stopping two sugar factories at any one given time. This period is referred to as OOC(Out Of Crop) but is more popular in countries where they have four seasons.Traditionally.MSC was allocated April but this was done away on privatization of the company.Annual stops now fall on the first month of the financial year unless and 2008/2009 was no exception.this year the period maybe between 4th or 8th to 25th or 28th....As you can see,you explanation of why the EPS shot up doesn't add up...and now that you know,go grab yourself a packet before they close coz Nzoia will follow almost immediately after. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

@ all Thanks. I have read well and taken my lessons. Will look at options and take decision, problem is I am a bit jittery over this Katiba thingy. Will most likely relook at options available come 5th August 2010. After Voting FOR the Katiba. When we wake up in the morning, we have two simple choices. Go back to sleep and dream, or wake up and chase those dreams. The choice is yours! .
