After the long wait the season kicked off over the weekend.

Mancity 0 V Spurs 0- Lucky escape for mancity. Just couldnt see the 'money' in the Mancity play. Spurs were, in the first half, absolutely brilliant only being denied by Wizard of a goalkeeper. Spurs shall be a team to watch.

Chelsea 6 V WestBrom 0 - Not so pretty game but highly effective chelsea team. Already setting records with the highest opening day scoreline of the EPL!

Arsenal 1 v Liverpool 1 - Lucky escape for arsenal. Second half was all liverpool. Liverpool were very good in defence. Thumbs up to Roy Hodgson. Wenger still needs to 'weight' his team upfront. Liverpool want to reclaim their top-four position back.

Tonight: Man-u V Newcastle. Man-u should comfortably thrash Newcastle. My guess; ManU 4 v Newcastle 0

I was watching CNN and they say Liverpool is in the red financially. I wonder why they didn't just float the shares to the locals.

Winston....I don't think Wenger needs to add any more players upfront,Van Persie and Chamakh wako sawa, we finally have the physical presence we lacked last season.

We need to get rid of Almunia haraka sana..at the moment he's just a liability. No one expected him to get beaten at that angle. Its being reported that Arsenal are in talks with man City for Given, i just hope we sign him or Shwarzer.

Defense wise i think Vermaelen and Koscielny are perfect although we need an equally strong replacement for those two.

Arshavin and Diaby are the two players that let us down yesterday...wonder why Wenger didnt start with Rosicky... but It was not a bad performance from the gunners. Next game Blackpool with Fabregas, Song and Van Persie all back.

BTW Winston, Arsenal won 6 - 1 away against EVerton in the opening match last season.

Almost spot-on on the prediction @winston, the Magpies held their own but the scoreline was kind...Berbatov could have had a hat trick if he had tucked away all the chances he got (and created).

What was re-assuring for me was seeing different people other than Rooney score (he we was even taken out on the hour), the over reliance on Rooney as a scorer was a double edged sword last season so it's comforting to see other guys make the play.

For me it's Chelsea and Man Utd who looked strong (despite the opposition and score lines)with Liverpool and Tottenham also impressing, again, despite the score lines. If I was asked to predict at this stage, my prediction for league cup would be:

1. Chelsea/Man Utd
2. Chelsea/Man Utd
3. Liverpool
4. Arsenal/Tottenham
5. Arsenal/Tottenham
6. Man City/Aston Villa
7. Man City/Aston Villa

Of course if you throw in spanners such as injuries, failure to click on form or as a team, poor coach tactics, bad/good luck, blah blah, then your guess is as good as mine.

One thing's for sure - if Newcastle put up the sort of fight they did jana, they will definitely avoid relegation, ceteris paribus.

Aluta continua!

@2012
It is easier to source for a single financier than many small investors with varying risk appetite.
The chairmal is well aware that the new owner should also buy the debts n at the same time build the new stadium and hav the cash for the transfer.
This would never hapen with individual shareholders.

Congrats to Man-U they didnt disappoint and the goals are now diversified (so far no one-man-show). Hence more dangerous.

@ Taz...arsenal's physical presence is more assured by Van persie and Bendtner. Chamakh...is fast and good but physically we are yet to see. In case of injury who would replace RVP and Bendtner?

The goal was tight one...while alumunia was beaten to his near post...credit should also go to Ngog. It was a superb strike. Yes..arsenal need a keeper. And so do chelsea...just in case cech gets injured (Turnbull and Hilario have been preseason jokes). Arsenal defence looks more solid. i wonder if mancity wont come for Vermalean at one point!

Goal difference of arsenal v everton last season was 5. Chelsea v west brom 6

@smano...SAF said Berbatov should have scored 4. I guess he owes me one goal.

My bet for this season: Chelsea, Man-U, Arsenal, Liverpoolsmile ...tight race but back to same old story!

Next games:

Arsenal v Blackpool; Wigan Athletic v Chelsea; Fulham v Man Utd; ManCity v Liverpool!

Blackpool wacked wigan last week. Will it be a banana peel for Arsenal?

Will chelsea continue avenging the early season defeat to wigan last season?

Fulham...Remember Bobby Zamora and Man-U last season? Without Hodgson, will it be revenge time for Man-u, away from home?

And the cracker: mancity V liverpool...Another draw?

I don't think Liverpool will make top 7. They are hurting financially and that always affects performance. Their only hope is if Tottenham goofs due to pressure from the many intensive games that come with Champions League.

@2012...there was talk of a buy by the chinese then by bank of scotland. So money problems may end soon. There may not have enough money to buy in big players but their display this weekend was full of purpose and they were very committed and physical. I think they maybe hurt by Mascherano leaving. Otherwise they will be up there in or next to the top four.

Spurs were good too. Only dont know whether they can last the distance. Should be interesting. But liverpool have what it takes to outlast Spurs

@McReggae...you still think Villa can fire well without Martin O'neil? I think Everton may perform better than Villa this term.

Of course they had to play with purpose, they were playing at home in front of their disappointed fans after a miserable season not forgetting that they didn't win. Let's wait for their away matches.

The league has just started yet we're already giving predictions on how it will end. The truth is both Chelsea and Man Utd played very weak opponents....the L'pool vs Arsenal game was a fairly contested match..the gunners controlled the first half while fools had the second, but its still too early to comment on the play...Fabregas, Song and Van Persie are yet to play. Transfer's are still open!

Winston...Chamahk has physical and aerial presence. He will not be the replacement...bendtner will be the impact player with Carlos Vela. Don't also forget that Arsenal didn't have a striker at some point last season yet we were the top scorers then.

Like i said earlier right now we can only give our predictions based on club loyalty and how the league ended last season....if we were to analyse each squad then Man City would be the team to watch. At their best they can THRASH any team in the EPL not that they haven't done it before.

@Taz, please note I said that if I was asked to give a prediction now, after the first games, that's what I would put - those factors I listed afterwards will all have a huge impact on how things stand.

I also mentioned that Chelsea gave good displays even if we were not to consider the opposition - we'll have a better picture when they meet each other or any of the big teams.

I don't think Mancini's outfit will have gelled by the end of the season, with or without Balotelli and Milner, their performance against Spurs spoke volumes about lack of co-ordination.

All that said, the marathon has just begun. Come January, most of the wheat will have been separated from the chaff - then we can start making informed predictions (or not!d'oh! )

Predictions-the West London gukas will struggle because their defence is weak. I predict 3rd for them.
Manugus have a chance despite shrek underperfoming-I predict 1st
Arses-will struggle unless they can get a decent fullback, goalkeeper and striker. I predict 4th for them.
Liverpool- I predict 2nd for them provided Torres comebacks to full forxe and Mastrun doesn't leave
Manshitty-the eyetalian will be sacked by Xmas

Smano....As an Arsenal fan i would rather we play Man City early in the season because the new players are still unsettled. When Abram. bought Chelsea we all dismissed them.."they can't buy success"...well they did. Man City's bench is stronger than most teams in the EPL.

As for Man Utd...Rooney needs to regain his form this season or else they'll be in the market for a striker come January. Berbatov is one of the most inconsistent player in the EPL. I always compare him to Bendtner....on a good day he can get a hatrick but that's once in a long time.
